Black Lives Matter-Shelter Island

Shelter Island is a small town on the east end of Long Island in Suffolk County.  It boasts a year round population of about 2,000 souls, 87.7% of which are white. Images here are from the June 14th 2020 Black Lives Matter rally organized by graduating seniors. It drew a multi-generational crowd. The rally was unbelievably moving, the stage was given to Black and Latinx voices, most of which are never presented first person in local or regional media.  Nearly 20% of the population in Suffolk County is Lantinx,  yet these folks are barely represented in government.
