President Barack Obama. The audience for the David Letterman interview had no idea who the guest was. The President walked on stage and they all jumped to their feet with a gasp of awe. I could feel a wave of pure joy ripple toward the back of the auditorium where I was photographing. I could see the interior smiles and pride from the secret service women and men I was sitting with. A magic moment I will never forget.
Glen Powell and Zoey Deutchon on the Highline NYC. It was a perfect crisp sunny day, made to film a Romcom at this newest icon of the city. The Hudson sparkled to our west, West 23rd street bustled to our east, but the Highline was an oasis...a calm rest in the middle of it all. This picture has always represented what we were all feeling that day.
The Half of It. Leah Lewis and Alexxis Lemire. This photo always reminds me of the self discovery of coming of age. Difficult yes, but also beautiful. Our director, Alice Wu did a brilliant job drawing our actors out, whispering notes to them.
Godmothered. We were all up the coast from Boston in the small, gorgeous town of Marblehead making snow. Jillian Bell radiated old time movie magic in her pink princess ball gown, her face laced with fake snowflakes.
Penn Badgley and Imogen Poots. Greetings From Tim Buckley. Such a gorgeous moment between our two stars. It was filmed amongst the grit of midtown, but you would hardly know it by the intimacy revealed.
Kate Winslet tearing it up while SFX torched a building in Red Hook, Brooklyn. She was a miracle to watch, a master of her craft.
Sisters. Tina Fey and Amy Poehler. Two women so deserving of their success. They work hard, they are fully present on set, and their love of their craft is infectious. Their love for each other is a breath of fresh air.
Jen Kirkland. Simply hysterical, insightful, alive, unapologetic, unafraid.
Owen Wilson and son. Quotient and inspiring all at once.
Step Up 3D. Really, how did this amazing dancer do this? I'll never know, but it's always been a joyful thing when I get to photograph dance.
